Latter backstops Atom AA's to playoff series win with three shutoutsPosted February 8, 2010The team finally got their feet wet after earning a bye into the second round of the playoffs then promptly sweeping the Aurora Tigers in 3 straight games in the best of five series. Game 1 found TNT at home at the Tottenham Community Centre coasting to a comfortable 6-0 victory. Opening up the scoring in the second period was Jeremy Anderson assisted by Jordan Maiolino. Dawson Foerster scored assisted by Maiolono. Rhys Brown found the mark early in the third assisted by Christopher Thorne and Boxer Benny Beausaert. Wade Cumberland buried a pair, the first assisted by Connor deVries and the second unassisted. Spitfire Maiolino finished up the scoring assisted by Nathan Bee Sting Smilsky. Curtis Latter recorded his first of 3 shut outs in the series. Game two found the team in Aurora to continue the winning streak. Early in the first Caden Maher fired a great shot from the point assisted by Beausaert. Mid way through the second Brown banged one in, assisted by Foerster and Maher. Minutes later deVries found the mark unassisted. Matthew Mitchell finished off the scoring early in the third, assisted by Beausaert and Brown to make the final 4-0. Latter recorded the shut out. Game three was at home to finish off the series with a 3-0 victory. Latter had his work cut out for him as the Tigers roared until the dying seconds of the game, recording the shut out. Beausaert opened up the scoring late in the first, assisted by Mitchell and Brown. Brown scored in the second, assisted by Beausaert. Seconds later Anderson finished up firing in the puck, assisted by deVries and Cumberland. The team faces Richmond Hill Next Saturday (Feb. 13) at the NTRC. Let's go TNT. BRIWAY wins Game 2 of Round 2 vs. Richmond Hill KingsPosted February 8, 2010The TNT Minor Atom AE rep hockey team sponsored by BRIWAY Carriers were home to the Richmond Hill Kings for Playoff Game 2 on Fri., Feb. 5th. The Kings opened the scoring in the 1st minute of play. Austin Russell replied towards the end of the 1st period assisted by Brody Real and Emma Foerster. Both teams exchanged scoring chances for most of the second period until TNT capitalized on numerous neutral zone turnovers as Kurt Watson streamed down the left wing and rifled one home assisted by Devin Matson and Peter Carney to take a 2-1 lead. Brady Poirier and Riley Jones then combined to feed the left wing as Remi Drouin split thru the defence and blasted a hard shot in the back of the net. The Kings kept coming at the Tornados but Connor Wiley was able to shut the door until Quinn Big Canoe came in for the 2nd half. Darcy Tainsh picked up an assist with Real as Russell made it 4-1 for TNT. In the 3rd period Watson was set up beautifully by Zachary and Lucas Berek as he roofed it for his 2nd goal. The Kings did not quit as Quinn Big Canoe faced a relentless attack and stood on his head. Zachary Berek went in alone and scored a great goal assisted by Watson and Foerster. Poirier and Bryan Rayburn were solid defensively as TNT defeated the Kings 6-1. |
