Updated - SUV drove into truck's path

In a further update to this morning's fatal collision in Rosemont, OPP reported the driver of the Toyota Forerunner SUV steered into lane of the truck driven by a 59-year-old Dundalk man.

"To date the investigation has revealed that the dump truck was eastbound on 89 Highway and the Toyota was westbound when the Toyota veered into the path of the truck and they collided - despite witnessed efforts of the truck driver to avoid the impact," according to the most recent update from this morning's fatal collision.

Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased who was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this update (3:14 pm) Hwy 89 was still closed for the investigation and clean up including a diesel spill.

Accident claims a life near Rosemont

Hwy 89 between the 2nd and 3rd Concession Rosemont is expected to be closed for several hours as the OPP's technical traffic investigation unit determines the cause of this morning's two vehicle collision which killed one person.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 8 am this morning to deal with the accident involving a dump truck and a passenger vehicle on Hwy 89.

"When Emergency Services arrived on scene, the passenger vehicle was fully engulfed in flames," according to OPP. "The identity of the deceased is not yet known."

(updated 12:32 pm) - The male driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by ambulance to Stevenson Memorial Hosptial in Alliston where he was treated and released.
