Posted September 8, 2017

Adjala Tosorontio will draw $45,000 from its fire contingency reserve fund to cover the over budget purchase price of a new pumper truck after eliminating the lowest bid for not meeting the tender specifications.

The second lowest bid, including tax, is $542,968. It meets all the safety, performance and convenience specifications. Its Cummins engine is 370 hp.

"Due to a stronger U.S. dollar and general increases to apparatus pricing, staff was unable to secure a bid within the estimated budget," according to the report to council on Monday's agenda. "Staff did however apply for and secure a $25,000 grant from the Farm Credit Canada Corporation to partially offset the deficit..."
