Township says, 'no access to financial records or personal

Computers and a small quantity of cash and cheques payable to
Adjala-Tosorontio, were reported stolen from the break-in to Township
Office on 30 Sideroad, sometime overnight May 26th.
The initial report about the incident from Nottawasaga OPP did not
disclose what what was taken, but a press release posted on the
Township's web site yesterday sought to assure its residents that
peronsal information was not breeched.
"Despite the break-in and theft, there was no access to financial
records or personal tax information" according to a quote attributed to
mayor Tom Walsh. "Our information system remains secure."
The press release goes on to say that, "A few personal cheques payable
to the Township were taken and staff will be following up with the
persons who issued these cheques. The Township apologizes for any
inconvenience caused by this unfortunate event but will carry on with
business as usual. It is our understanding that there have been a rash
of break-ins in the area and we ask resident' s to be vigilant in
reporting any suspicious activity to the Nottawasaga OPP."
