![]() Alliston library hosting forensic science program for kids WednesdayPosted July 14, 2009Press Release - Let's Talk Science volunteers will visit the Memorial Branch of New Tecumseth Public Library on Wednesday, July 15 to engage local children and youth in hands-on science activities. The free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., is themed around the library's Summer Reading Club theme of Agent 009. Kids will have the opportunity to investigate a crime scene while learning techniques of forensic science. Activities include fingerprinting, handwriting analysis, ink chromatography, and identifying 'mysterious' substances using chemical analysis. "Let's Talk Science graduate student volunteers and science professionals are excellent role models for children and youth and provide engaging educational activities that make learning about science fun," says Glenda Casimir, Let's Talk Science Coordinator of Alumni & Community Partnerships, "Having the theme of the activities match that of the Summer Reading Club helps make the important connection between science and literacy."
