Angus man facing numerous charges following crash

A 33-year-old male from Angus faces several driving charges including impaired after he fled the scene of a single vehicle crash last night, leaving behind his passenger who suffered "life altering" injuries according to Nottawasaga OPP.

Police reported this morning, they were called to the 5th Line, south of 20 Sideroad in Essa just before 9:30 pm Monday night.

"A 33-year-old male from Angus was operating his friend's 1993 Eagle Talon when he lost control, entered the ditch and struck a tree. The driver fled the scene, leaving behind his seriously injured male passenger. He was captured shortly after police arrival and transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries as a result of the crash," according to OPP. "The passenger in the vehicle, also a 33-year-old male from Angus, suffered life altering injuries. He was first transported by EMS to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto Hospital via air ambulance."

The driver is charged with: Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm; Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm; Drive with Over .80 mg of alcohol causing bodily harm; and Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Bodily Harm.

He was released on a Promise To Appear at a later date.
