Assault suspect arrested after holding police at bay
11, 2013 - With files from Stephen Dolson
A call to police for a reported violent domestic assault last night
west of Loretto led
to a road closure and stand-off with OPP that ended after five hours
with a male's arrest.
The press release this morning was absent any details other than OPP
were called out to a
residence in the area of Adjala Central Public at 10:23 pm, and "as a
result of the police investigation, Nottawasaga OPP closed County Road
1 (in the area of Conc. 2) for approximately five hours for public
safety during a search for an outstanding suspect."
Reportedly, the female victim, who sustained injuries in the assault,
ran from the home to a neighbour's and called police. Weapons were
reportedly linked to the address where the suspect remained, and would
not come out as ERT and TRU members were dispatched to the scene.
The only other details provided by police at this post, was the man is
in custody "and the investigation is continuing."
