New AUPS design to be unveiled this week

Posted October 2, 2012

The $10.1 million Alliston Union replacement school design is scheduled to be presented to the Business and Facilities Standing Committee on Wednesday night, prior to its unveiling to the full board later this month.

Makrimichalos Cugini Architects, which won the job to design the new school on Church Street North in Alliston, did so with input from a committee consisting of staff and parent representatives from the school, the local trustee, architects and facility services staff.

The new school will have a capacity for 507 students. According to the most current enrolment figures as of Sept. 19, Alliston Union's student population was 485, which is 39 fewer than last school year, and down 15 from the projected enrolment for this year.
