Banting misses cut for third year, but Board secures funds
for three new schools
The Simcoe County District School Board announced this morning the
Ministry of Education will fund three new elementary schools in
Bradford, Oro-Medonte and Wasaga Beach.
But a replacement building for Banting Memorial High School in Alliston
was passed over for the third year in a row.
Brian Jeffs, Superintendent of Business & Facility Services, told Free Press Online, "We do believe a strong business case for a Banting replacement school needs to include a community hub."
A new elementary school in Bradford was the Board's top priority,
followed by Banting.
Additionally, the ministry has approved Early Years Capital Project
funding to support two child care projects located at Lake Simcoe
Public School in Innisfil and Pine River Elementary School in Angus.
The Ministry, which earlier this month announced it will allocate
$784 million to finance 39 new schools, and 40 "major" renovations and
additions across the province, will post the results on its web site,
