Beeton house fire remains under investigation

Posted June 23, 2014

A fire that gutted a Coburn Crescent home Sunday morning is estimated to have caused $420,000 in damage. The cause remains under investigation.

New Tecumseth firefighters were called to scene at 4:35 am, where flames were visible through the roof.

"A fast offensive attack was initiated but crews had to evacuate due to a partial collapse of the roof," according to the press release issued this afternoon. "A defensive operation was initiated and the fire was under control at (6 am) ... the building's roof and floor were damaged during the fire making the structure unsafe to enter."

No one was home at the time, so no injuries were reported. And the family's pet cat, which was found in a pool of water inside the structure, was also pulled out safely.
