Two small planes, (shell only no motors) in for repairs were among the
ruins destroyed in an overnight fire at 6498 8th Line in Beeton that
required mutual aid from neighbouring fire departments.
New Tecumseth Fire Chief Dan Heydon reported this afternoon that all
three local stations were dispatched to the scene at 1:42 am for a
structure fire and small explosions.
"On arrival fire crews found a large structure fully involved with
exposed adjacent buildings. Apparatus from all 3 stations in New
Tecumseth responded to the scene and Mutual Aid was activated for
additional tankers from Bradford West Gwillimbury and Adjala-Tosorontio
as well as a pump from King Township for standby," according to the
press release. "The fire impinged on an adjacent structure at the roof
level but was quickly contained before causing extensive damage.
The structure where the fire occurred was used as a workshop / storage
facility which contained two planes (currently under repair) two
vehicles, an ATV and golf cart as well as other additional equipment."
The fire was completely extinguished at 5:38 hrs and the incident was
terminated at 8:30. The cause at this time was still being
investigated. There were no injuries reported.
