Underserviced designation renewal motion tweaked

Councillors modified a motion from last week supporting Stevenson Memorial Hospital's medically underserviced area request to the Ministry of Health by including a reference to Beeton "currently without a family doctor."

Its been more than a decade since SMH's catchment area was first declared an underserviced area, a designation that enables the community to tap into Ministry incentives for attracting doctors. A renewal recognizes the population growth since then.

Beeton is the only urban community in New Tecumseth without a doctor practicing in the community.
