Borden Metal to expand building in Beeton

Posted May 5, 2014

Borden Metal Products is adding an extension to its Dayfoot Street plant to increase its indoor storage capacity.

A draft site plan agreement awaiting council approval tonight shows because expansion is less than 50 per cent of its gross floor area, development charges are not applicable. The planning staff report to council also notes that no additional jobs are anticipated as a result, so no extra parking spaces are required.

Borden Metal, in business over 50 years, produces, "a complete line of gratings in riveted, pressure locked, squeeze locked and resistence welded construction in carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel alloys."

The project's haul route will be Dayfoot St via west of Main Street toward Tottenham Road. "Any failure to comply with or abide by the haul route will be deemed to be a breach of this agreement."

One of the conditions added to the site plan will require Borden Metal, which is on a private septic system, to connect to the municipal sewage system once it becomes available through the pending reconstruction of Dayfoot Street.
