Posted June 6, 2019

Thomas Carrique will become the 15th Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at a change of command ceremony this afternoon at the Police College in Alymer West.

The 29-year-veteran of York Region Police, including its Deputy Chief since 2011,  will be presented the OPP Tipstaff - the symbolic mantle of OPP leadership - by retiring Commissioner Vince Hawkes.

The OPP, including Nottawasaga's detachment, employs more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilians and 830 auxiliary officers as one of North America's largest police services.
