RIDE charges, and passed out downtown

Around noon Monday, OPP were called to Victoria Street near Paris where an elderly male was reported in possible medical distress.

Upon arrival, he was located on the sidewalk, "but intoxicated, he was arrested under the Liquor Licence Act."

A 68-year-old Adjala-Tosorontio man was charged with being intoxicated in a Public Place, and, as he was also carrying a bullet, faces one charge of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (Criminal Code of Canada). He was released with a court date of January 30, 2014.

Earlier last week, the OPP's Festive RIDE program Dec. 6-8 netted several impaired charges.

During two separate R.I.D.E programs on Dec. 6th in Essa and New Tecumseth, Police charged two drivers within 40 minutes of each other, their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days and their licences suspended. A 37-year-old from Essa was charged over 80 mgs; and a 37-year-old from New Tecumseth was charged with Over 80 mgs and Possession of a Schedule II drug."

The following day at County Road 10 and the 25th Sideroad of Essa, a vehicle was stopped for speeding toward a R.I.D.E program on County Road 10. "The driver was stopped and also investigated for alcohol." A 41-year-old from Essa was charged with Over 80 mgs.

A 22-year-old New Tecumseth man was stopped and "found not intoxicated" however, he was charged with possession of a Schedule II drug, and driving without a licence. And on Dec. 8th, a 20-year-old New Tecumseth man was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule II substance.
