Fire investigation continues, integrity of building structure in question

Posted February 27, 2013

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office and New Tecumseth Fire Rescue were back on scene this morning at the 8th Line County works yard expecting to wrap-up their investigation into what sparked a fire that destroyed road fleet equipment, and caused extensive damage to a building which has only been occupied for less than two months.

Reportedly total damage could top $2 million, and could end up forcing the County to rebuild the facility pending a structural engineering review.

The works building located at 6609 County Road 1 (8th Line), cost about $2.4 million to construct. It replaced the depot that had been located at Patterson and Main Street in Beeton.

A trailer has been moved on site to serve as temporary office space until the structure is repaired or replaced. More details when they become available.
