Load limits extended north of 90, to end on schedule south end

Posted April 23, 2014

Simcoe County announced this afternoon that due to weather factors, the seasonal load restrictions on County roads north of Cty 90 will be extended until May 15,while south of that, will be removed as scheduled on April 30.

"Temperatures, frost and weather in many parts of the County have combined to impact road, ground, embankment and ditch conditions on many of our County roads," according to Debbie Korolnek, General Manager, Engineering, Planning and Environment, County of Simcoe. "The extension will allow for greater long-term conservation of road structure and road safety."

On April 7, the owner of a tractor trailer whose gravel load exceeded the weight limit on King Street (Cty Rd 15) by 26,000 kg, was fined $8,125 by a Ministry of Transportation officer on patrol in the area. The truck was taking its load to the Previn Court Homes subdivision at Industrial Parkway and King Street.
