Boards open school sites to expanded day care on off days

In companion to the roll-out of full-day kindergarten across the
province is the expansion of fee-based before and after school child
care programs to include PA days and school holidays throughout Simcoe
County, including in New Tecumseth.
The YMCA operates the day care programs out of Holy Family
School and Ernest Cumberland in Alliston, as well at Monsignor J. E.
Ronan in
Beeton and Tottenham PS while Locomotion Day Care provides the service at Father F.X. OÕReilly in Tottenham.
Public school PA and school holiday dates for the 2012-13 school year
are: Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 16, Dec. 27- 28, Jan. 2-4, Jan. 25, Mar.
11-15, Apr. 1, June 7, June 28. Additional days available at Ernest
Cumberland include Oct. 9-12, Feb. 19-20, May 21-24. Registration is
required in advance with the child care operator.
The service is available to children between the ages of 3.8 to 12, at
a cost of $33.50 per day. Hours- 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (subject to change
based on needs of the families).
"The public school board is delighted to offer this option to families
in our region," stated Kathi Wallace, Director of Education, Simcoe
County District School Board. "We encourage families who require care
for their elementary school-aged children on PA days and during school
breaks to register soon."
