RULES AND REGULATIONS
READ CAREFULLY.
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

1 - Driver's and pit crew must be 18 years or older. Drivers must possess a valid driver's license on day of derby.

2 - The Demolition Derby committee reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.

3 - Only drivers and 2 (two) mechanics that sign the release form will be permitted into the pit area! NO EXCEPTIONS. Only driver and 2 (two) mechanics will receive pit passes on day of derby.

4 - Derby car entry gate will be closed at 12:00 p.m. No entries or registrations will be accepted after this time.NO EXCEPTIONS.

5 - Any persons or person in the pit area without a pit pass will be removed by security and the derby car they are with will be disqualified from the event with NO REFUND.

6 - The Potato Festival volunteers and/or officials will not be held responsible for any cars, parts, personal injuries or property, before, during and after the event.

7 - All cars must be removed from the grounds no later than 2 (two) hours after the derby. All vehicles left in excess of this time become property of the promoter.

8 - Absolutely no pets allowed in the pit area.

9 - No arguing with officials, other participants, security or promoter. All officials' decisions are final. Instigators will be ejected with NO REFUND.

10 - Entry fees will be paid in the form of cash, money order or certified cheque payable to Paul Barker.

BIG CAR - TYPE OF CAR

Any American made hard top sedan or station wagon is allowed.  No trucks, convertibles, cars with t-tops, jeeps, limousines, 4 x 4 cars, checker cabs, elcaminos, rancheros, Cadillac eldorados, or Chrysler Imperials.

SMALL CAR - TYPE OF CAR

No Volvos, all wheel drive or four wheel drive cars.  Wheelbase must not be more than 103" and 4 cylinder engine or smaller.

PREPARATION OF CAR
Please abide by these rules, they are only for YOUR safety.

1 - Stock gas tank must be removed and a metal marine tank or similar tank securely fastened in the rear seat area.  Tank must be covered with rubber mat or sheet metal. Gas lines must be neoprene or metal line, which must run inside car through or under front seat.

2 - An electric fuel pump will be permitted if the car came stock with one, and an electric kill switch to turn the fuel pump off is installed on the left front corner of the roof. Proper high pressure fuel line and connectors must be used. This will allow officials to turn off the fuel in case of fire.

3 - All glass, including windshield, side windows, rear windows, head lights and taillights must be removed.

4 - All chrome moldings, grille, door handles and locks must be removed.

5 - No special bumper reinforcements, fabrications or trailer hitches permitted.

6 - Radiators must remain in stock position or be taken out. No transmission coolers. No antifreeze permitted in radiators (water only).

7 - All doors must be fastened shut by chains or safety belts.  No welds or wire.

8 - Only one 12-volt battery is allowed. Battery must be placed on the floor of the passenger side compartment and securely fastened and covered with sheet metal or rubber mats.

9 - Hood and trunk must be fastened down in 4 (four) places with 2 (two) strands of wire through each hole. NO CHAINS, BANDS, BOLTS, PINS OR CABLES can be used. Officials have final say on overuse of wire. Hood and trunk must be left open until after inspection.

10 - Driver's door must be painted white. An All white car will not be permitted. Numbers to be painted on both front doors for identification purposes.

11 - Interior of auto must be removed including flammable material of the rear seat; roof liner, carpet and interior must be swept clean.

12 - It is mandatory for an 8" hole square or round to be cut in the hood over the carburetor.

13 - All cars must have a bar installed inside of driver's door (protection purposes only).

14 - A steel bar must be installed vertically in the centre of windshield area (no wire mesh anywhere).

15 - No double tires, or liquids permitted in tires.  No studs, screws in rims to hold tires. Maximum tire sizes 235/15/70 series.

16 - Shocks, coil springs and leafts must be stock, and remain in stock operational order. NO REINFORCING.

17 - Any sharp or protruding fins or dangerous objects must be smashed down, removed or cut off.

18 - Refrigerant must be removed from all cars that have air conditioning.

19 - On all small cars it is mandatory that heavy steel pipe or bar is put along driver's door, behind the seat to the centre of the car.  Must be welded or bolted in.

20 - White X's must be on all 4 wheels.

RUNNING

1 - Seat belts, CSA approved helmet, goggles or face shield is mandatory. Seat belt must be in working order.

2 - No deliberate head on collisions and no deliberate or otherwise hitting of driver's door.

3 - Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times, and boundaries must be observed.

4 - No abusive language, drinking of alcoholic beverages on the track or in the pit area and/or in the emergency vehicle area. Any driver or mechanic found under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds. NO EXCEPTIONS. RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

5 - A vehicle will be disqualified if it becomes unsafe during a heat.

6 - Track officials for restarts and making competitive contact with another car enforce a sixty-arm count limit.  Hits must be aggressive but not overly aggressive. Simple contact within the time does not constitute combat and will be considered sandbagging.

7 - Vehicles must have a fully charged fire extinguisher within reach of the driver.

8 - No fighting, and/or arguing with officials or other participants.  Instigators will be ejected with NO REFUND.

9 - Driver's meeting will be held 20 (twenty) minutes prior to race time. All drivers must attend. Failure to attend will result in immediate disqualification with NO REFUND.

10 - A long sleeved shirt, pants and/or coveralls must be worn at all times by drivers and mechanics. This will be strictly enforced.

11 - No riding on cars from pit to track, or in the pits.

12 - The officials reserve the right to order any alterations to meet our safety standards. Alterations may also be imposed due to track conditions on day of derby.

13 - If your car is not ready for the heat and/or feature, then you will be automatically disqualified with NO REFUND.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION AND EJECTION FROM THE EVENT WITH NO REFUND. THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED. REMEMBER THESE RULES ARE FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OTHERS!
