  • when children are involved the OPP will make notification to the Children's Aid Society (CAS) to advocate on the behalf of the child
  • when criminal charges are laid in a domestic, OPP will make a referral to the Victim Witness Assistance Program who will assist victims of crime through the court process
  • for family disputes and domestic incidents there are various family counselling services offered in the community that Police can make referrals to or simply provide people with the information for them to make contact at a later date. An example would be youth and family services, resource centres, mental health and addiction services, as well as many services for seniors.
