Essa council approves 2019 budget with combined 5.5 per cent
Essa Township will tap its ratepayers for $6.88 million to
finance a 2019 budget of $11,688,115, pushing the average tax bill to
$865 for local purposes, an increase of approximately $36 on a home
with an assessed value of $360k.
The first budget of the new term led by Mayor Sandie Macdonald
includes a 2.5 per cent general levy hike, and an additional three per
cent increase dedicated to an Infrastructure Renewal Reserve. It's the largest tax hike since 12 per cent in 2016.
The 2019 levy equates to about $10 per $100,000 of assessment, not
including County and education taxes.
