Morning armed robbery in Alliston under investigation

Posted May 14, 2014

Nottawasaga OPP continue to investigate an armed robbery this morning at the Fast Cash outlet in downtown Alliston, whose suspect remains at large at this update.

The robbery at Fast Cash, 69 Victoria St. W, was reported at 9:53 am.

"Preliminary investigation reveals lone male armed with knife robbed the Fast Cash store and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot," OPP reported. "Central Region OPP K-9 and Emergency Response Team were on scene and are conducting a track. Central Region Forensic Identification Unit, Crime Unit and Nottawasaga Street Crime Unit are also on site assisting in investigation."

The suspect was described wearing all black clothing, with a bandana covering his face. He reportedly struck the female employee, who was treated for her injuries at Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

It's the third armed robbery involving a knife wielding suspect that has taken place in Alliston over the past two weeks. Police are not speculating whether the incidents are connected, but the descriptions of the suspect are similar.

Police did make an arrest at Victoria and Boyne Street around noon hour, but OPP this morning said it was a separate matter.

"No further details will be released as this time. This is an ongoing criminal investigation."
