![]() ![]() Family left homeless by fire near TottenhamPosted October 10, 2012A fire last night at 6683 6th Line has left a family of four temporarily homeless and whose cause remains under investigation this morning by New Tecumseth Fire Rescue. No one was home at the time when Station 2 Beeton and Station 3 Tottenham were dispatched to the scene at 6:06 pm. Additional tankers were called in from Station 1 Alliston, and a mutual aid call from Loretto because the closest fire hydrant was down the road at St Thomas Aquinas School at the 5th Line. "On arrival crews found a working fire inside the main level of the home. Interior crews extinguished a fire in the kitchen area and additional crews were sent to the roof level where the fire had extended and extinguished a fire in the attic area," according to this morning's press release. "There is severe fire damage to the kitchen and adjoining main floor, structural damage to the roof and smoke damage throughout the entire residence. Due to the extent of the damage from the fire and smoke the residents have been displaced until repairs have been completed. New Tecumseth Fire, New Tecumseth Building Department and Insurance Agency representatives were meeting on site today to assess the damage. |
