The community hall that never took hold with the public, has been
reshaped into a fitness room at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre and
will be open on a free trial basis for one week starting on Tuesday at
6 am.
Located on the second floor adjacent to the Hornets Nest restaurant and
bar, the fitness centre is equipped with over 30 pieces including,
treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, Inspire
Upright Lifecycle Bikes, recumbent bikes, rowing bachine, and various
weight training units. It also includes a variety of aerobic equipment
for use during fitness classes or when working with a personal trainer.
The Town is also going to tender this week for the interior renovation to provide change rooms in the fitness centre and an operable partition in the restaurant area at the NTRC.
"The community is welcome to come to the centre to take a look at our
state-of-the-art equipment supplied by Life Fitness, as well as get an
idea of what the future plans are for the fitness space located on the
second floor of the Centre," according to the Town's press release.
There is a membership fee to use the centre, that range monthly to one
year terms and prices for residents and non residents. A membership
allows card access to both facilities in Alliston and Tottenham and
includes the core fitness class programming.
No immediate plans for pro-shop
Space left vacant by George's Arena Sports abrupt closure of its
pro-shop business inside the NTRC last spring, will for now be used as
a multipurpose room for fitness classes, dance classes, birthday
parties, and meetings, said mayor Mike MacEachern in an email. "The
concept of developing a smaller pro shop space is being investigated."
