Flooding chases tenants from apartments in Alliston

Posted July 16, 2012

The Weather Network's now historical data for this area based at Borden yesterday counted 46.5 mm (1.8 inches) of rain accumulation that fell hard in long bursts, overwhelming storm sewers in some areas, and pouring into three apartments at 13 Tottenham Road forcing the temporary relocation of the tenants.

New Tecumseth Fire Chief Dan Heydon said this morning via email that Station 1 was called to the building at 4:26 pm for reported flooding into three units located immediately south of Fandrich Motors.

"On arrival crews found water had entered three apartments causing sufficient damage that hydro was shut down to two of the units due to safety concerns," wrote Chief Heydon. "New Tecumseth Chief Building Official attended the scene and determined the three apartments are not to be occupied until repairs have taken place."
