Second half off to positive start for Honda brands, Acura's not so much

Posted August 4, 2014

Honda Canada reported combined July sales of 15,947 units by the Honda and Acura division, a five per cent increase over last year's sales. But the positive news is all on the Honda side, which set a new high for July monthly sales at 14,574 units, up eight per cent over last year. The Acura Division reported July sales of 1,373 units, down 19 per cent versus last year.

"Honda's strength and sales momentum in a wide selection of utility vehicles including the Honda Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline continues, as we hit seven consecutive months of sales increases," said Dave Gardner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. "With Acura's SUVs continuing to impress and the all-new 2015 TLX performance luxury sedan launching in the Canadian market shortly, Acura will see a surge in sales through the balance of 2014."

There were 7.049 Civics, which are built in Alliston, sold in July, a 16.2 per cent increase, and year to date, 34,623, which is nine per cent higher than the same period last year.

Honda Canada also listed five models without a retail sale, at July 31, including the Insight, S2000, Element, and Acura CSX and NSX.
