June car sales down for Honda, but Acura division sales up

Honda Canada Inc reported this morning it sold 13,754 units by its Honda and Acura divisions, a 17 per cent decrease over the same period last year.

Honda, including its best selling Civic, reported June sales of 11,942 vehicles, while Acura sales were 1,812 units, up 13 per cent over last year.

"Consumer confidence seems to be improving, as each month there is a small increase in sales compared to previous months," said Jerry Chenkin, Honda Canada's executive vice president. "Strong truck sales in June were supported by a 55 per cent monthly increase for Honda CR-V and a 77 per cent monthly increase for Acura MDX, both reaching record levels for the month."
