Hornets perfect weekendPosted September 30, 2013
The Alliston Hornets sit a point out of first place following back to back wins Friday night at home over Orillia and on the road Saturday in Erin.
Orillia made its first regular season appearance ever at the NTRC in Alliston and at final buzzer left with a 7-1 loss. Darrin Nesbitt and Ben Skuce added a pair of goals each, and David Leblanc paced the scores with a goal and two assists. Hornets rookie netminder Connor Ryckman got the win in goal.
On Sunday, Alliston made its first trip of the season to Erin and pummelled the Shamrocks 8-1. Leblanc's four point night, three assists and a goal, led the way, as eight different Hornets shared in the goals. Ryckman ran his record to 3-0 and leads the league in GAA at 1.67.
Midland Flyers are at the NTRC on Friday night for a rematch of last season's league finalists, and it also marks the first time new Hornets head coach Ed Garinger goes up against his former team. Then on Sunday Alliston travels to Huntsville for a 2:30 pm puck drop.
