IceCats wrap up division title, play for Cup of Champions on the weekend

Posted March 24, 2014

This past weekend the Clearview IceCats Pee Wee Girls Rep Team, who play out of the Nottawasaga Resort's Centre Ice Arena, won the Central East Division Championship. This team goes on to play for the Lower Lakes Cup of Champions this coming week in Mississauga (March 29 & 30).

They have accomplished more than one can imagine in one season.

In regular season play, the IceCats lost only one game. They were the only team in pee wee from Kingston to Windsor as far north as Sudbury, to lose only one game all season, along with having the least amount of goals against 11 and the most goals for 89, the best record in the lower lakes pee wee female league in Southern Ontario.

The IceCats were successful champions at four tournaments this season and went to the finals in the Silver Stick Ladies Tournament in Sarnia, losing in double over time with 39 seconds remaining to Lucan. Ironically, a month later in another tournament, they met up with Lucan again, this time the IceCats beat them 3-0.

The next three weeks is going to be a very exciting and eventful time in the hockey world for the IceCats girls.

This coming weekend there in the Lower Lakes Cup of Champions.

The team also qualified for the provincials (April 11-13) playing in a round robin the past two months not losing a game to Orillia & Barrie.

This is truly a special team that came to play every night all season long!
