New Picture Book Inspired by Jaida Cumberland

Posted March 3, 2014

Press Release - Gerbil Meets Mouse Publishing is excited to announce the upcoming publication of their fourth children's picture book, Gerbs in the House: Jaida's Here. Inspired by the author's cousin, the book is a warm , child-friendly story about love, life, loss and transformation.

This is the story about Jaida; a friendly little caterpillar with a powerful message. A surprise visit to Mocha and Petri's dollhouse leads the three to an everlasting friendship. Each day is filled with a new memory, until the day that Jaida stops coming to visit. As Mocha and Petri begin to accept the loss of their friend, they soon learn that Jaida's greatest lesson has yet to come.

"Although this book was difficult to write, I am really proud of the way it turned out," said author, Bailey J Thompson. "I believe we've captured the true and beautiful essence of Jaida while sharing a special message."

Gerbs in the House: Jaida's Here combines the company's signature photography of live gerbils and illustrations by Collingwood artist, Heather Cook. The book is currently available for pre-order online and will be released on April 15, 2014. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Jaida's Challenge.

Founded in October 2012 by 19-year-old author Bailey J Thompson, Gerbil Meets Mouse Publishing is a small publishing house located in Barrie Ontario. The company aspires to publish unique children's stories that feature signature photography of live animals. For more information about the company, please visit gerbilmeetsmouse.com
