Alliston teacher wins provincial award

Posted September 26, 2012

Jodie Lang, who teaches at St. Paul's Catholic School in Alliston, was one of three teachers across the province to win the 2012 Ontario Teachers' Federation (OTF) award for teaching excellence, sponsored by the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP).

Ms. Lang won in the Elementary Teaching category, and took part in the awards ceremony last night in Toronto.

The OTIP award is "to recognize the great work that teachers are doing daily in our schools," and timed to coincide with the annual World Teachers' Day, which in 2012 is Oct. 5th.

The OTF is the advocacy arm for its 160,000 full-time, part-time and occasional teachers in all the publicly funded schools in the province.

This is the first time in the nine years the awards have been handed out, that a teacher from Simcoe County has won it.
