'One can expect the Province will sit up and take notice'

Posted January 26, 2012

to the editor,

Presumably much like their lands in New Tecumseth, the Walton owned lands in Adjala-Tosorontio, near Everett, as I understand it, is outside of the Settlement Area Boundaries.

In order to extend the boundaries, Walton will have to establish, through a 'municipal comprehensive review,' that the forecasted growth for the area as set by the Province cannot be otherwise accommodated.

In light of the current lands within the settlement area boundary of Everett, there is, in my view, no realistic likelihood that Walton will be in a position to move forward in either the near or medium term.

In New Tecumseth, however, the political reality may be quite different. If they have the demonstrated ability to move forward with a large scale project, one can expect the Province will sit up and take notice. When it comes to jobs, and economic activity, the Province always will.

A recent example is Geranium's plan for Midhurst.
