'There are always three sides to every story'

What a wonderful place the community of Beeton is where I have lived for over 16 years and raised two kids.

We decided to move to Beeton because of its small town home like feeling which in my opinion is a very close knit community.

We have the Meet Your Neighbor Picnic and the Beeton Fall Fair. We have a community fundraiser for the Kevin Lord Foundation. The annual car draw that the BAA successfully puts on every year and FAB that does fundraisers for our new beloved arena. There is something for everyone. That is why I chose to live here and have no plans of moving anytime soon. I support my home town.

However, I have read about a lot of issues regarding the BAA VS TNT ever popular hockey debate and I feel very sad for both sides but more importantly for the kids. There are always three sides to every story, BAA side, TNT side and the truth.

Now I am sure that both sides have valid points and not knowing anything about OMHA rules and regulations I obviously can't comment on the legalities that are going on. What I can comment on are the slanderous ways that these two groups are going about it.

I feel like they are tearing this town apart. We as a community need to work with each other not against. Beeton has been the town that doesn't always receive all the perks that the other areas receive (or so I have read). Well in my opinion, how can the Town of New Tecumseth support a community that does not work together?

We lose another sport and what good will the new Beeton arena be? How can the Town support our new arena if there is no more Beeton Hockey? The job loss that this will create like the kids that do score keeping and time keeping that can just simply walk to the arena. Kids who are too young to get real jobs, it gives them a sense of responsibility.

What about all the referees, and rink attendants who do such a good job to keep the facility clean and operational so that the kids can play hockey? How about the concession booth, the people that run that booth are hard working people and they care about the parents and kids of Beeton. They keep their prices low so that you can get the best fries and gravy on that cold winter day and the staff that come in to work and cook you those fries for you. All of that gone. Not to mention the extended revenue benefits for other businesses when out of town teams come to visit our humble town for playoffs or tournaments. Have you ever been to the Muddy Water Christmas week when the annual tournament is in full swing?

I ask you BAA and TNT why can't you work together to build a bigger and better Beeton Hockey club?

Tammy Bush,
Beeton
