'More and more apparent that we need new blood on this council'Posted August 30, 2010to the editor, I'm starting to wonder who actually is the mayor of New Tecumseth. Is it Mike MacEachern, the person we elected to the position? Or is it Ward 4 councillor Richard Norcross from Beeton, the person who actually seems to run the Town and control the mayor? Hell, we have a deputy mayor but he also appears to be under some kind trance induced by Councillor Norcross. Norcross has the ability to schmooze more tax dollars out of the mayor and deputy mayor than all the other councillors combined. Something is wrong here folks. Something is seriously wrong here. It is becoming more and more apparent that we need new blood on this council. We need new councilors who can say "no" to Norcross, who can say "no" to no more debt, who can say "no" to more tax increases. This council has too many spenders and not enough savers. This council currently consists of nine members. Seven of the nine are running for re-election. Of those seven, five of them are complete, utter, total spendthrifts who have no fiscal conscience, and no understanding of the long term dangers of their spending habits. It's time for some new blood on council. It's well past the time for some new, fiscally prudent councillors who can say "no" to the "Spendthrift Five". Wayne Hutchinson,
