'Do the inevitable, rename Stevenson - Southlake II'

to the editor,

Posted January 27, 2014

Three quick points to make in my letter concerning the 'debate' at town council last week on the ophthalmology program at Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

First, Dr. Baseer Khan is a brilliant surgeon, nothing more, nothing less.  His work and surgical practice is indeed world class and he wanted Stevenson to share in the world class status.

Second, (SMH Board Chair John) Swinden must be a world class arrogant person. How dare he say matters should not be brought into the public domain? We have a right to know how our tax dollars are being spent and or misspent. Also, if Stevenson is a great training ground for Southlake executives, then do the inevitable, rename Stevenson - Southlake II.

Third, Mayor Mike MacEachern, if you are going to have a debate in council, then make sure all parties are equally invited and given an equal amount of time to state their case. Dr. Khan was short-changed in the time granted, yet Mr. Swinden was allowed to talk on and on and on.
