'Voters and property taxpayers are going to have to dig deep'Posted September 1, 2010to the editor, Perhaps those heaping praise on councillor Richard Norcross, can reflect upon what they would do if faced with the choice to carry out a major repair to their home but discovered there was no money to pay for it. The issue was not about Patterson Street needing repairs. It was, and still is, about when do we want our Town to stop their borrowing. In this particular set of circumstance, the cost of the project was to come from a future surplus that cannot be guaranteed. After all, voters and property taxpayers are going to have to dig deep into their pockets to pay-off all of this growing debt accumulated by this present Council, which now sits at $57 million as of Monday night's Council meeting.
