'Why didn't the Town notify them before October?'

to the editor,

Posted October 18, 2012

Wonder why the Concession booths are not open at the arenas in Beeton in Tottenham, well at the 11th hour the Town notified the current operators that they have to resubmit their tender.

Ron and Grace Smith have been doing an awesome job of running both concessions. They have had to put up with a lot of issues concerning the Tottenham Arena including being shut down for the renovations and then having no fryer for I believe at least one season and losing a lot of revenue.

These nice people are not out to make a million all they want to do is to provide a service to the community at fair prices and make enough money to live just like anybody else. They don't own fancy cars and vacation properties and don't get town payouts. They are just regular citizens like you and me trying to make ends meet.

After going out and spending a lot of money to purchase product to fill the concessions and get ready for the 2012/2013 hockey season they are then told they can't open. Why didn't the town notify them before October? Now they sit and wait, for almost three weeks, for the town to give them the paperwork needed in order for them to continue providing the best service possible to the users of the facilities in Tottenham and Beeton.

This type of political crap makes me so upset for these people. Ron and Grace care about the people in these communities. They provide the best product to sell with lower than normal prices across the board. They have not raised their prices since they took over the Concessions.

Where else can you get an order of fries for $2?  The people that work in the Concession booths are also on hold waiting to find out if they have a job or not. The parents and kids are waiting to enjoy the best fries around. I am sure they are wondering what is going on with the Concessions.

Please, I ask the town to get these people what they need.
