Not all Richmond St. W residents upset with Masons, dance schoolPosted June 30, 2009to the editor, As a resident of Richmond St W, I wish to advise readers that it is not a majority of Richmond St West's residents that have an issue with the parking status on the street. We do, however, take issue with how the problem is continually misrepresented. For the majority there is no fight, against The Dance Connection or the Masonic Hall. We do not believe that all of the residents have been treated fairly by the Town, the councillors and the process by which this has been handled continually, over the past few years. We were told this time that we were to be notified should this come to council. That did not happen. Recently the Tottenham Times stated that 'further meetings with residents were held,' these meetings were not open to all residents to attend nor have any input. I am glad that with the democratic process we residents too get to choose who we listen to and who we believe in and for whom we vote, the lack of confidence in the handling of the current 'situation' certainly will affect our vote. As residents of a zoned commercial-residential street in the town, we welcome new business, we welcome activities for kids and we have no issue with either the parking on the street or how people drive on the street, we welcome charitable organizations that do a greater good. As residents of the street and of the town, we know we are in the majority. While this situation is being looked at on one street, any decisions would be precedent setting and will affect every street in the Town, any street that has residents or business or cars. What quantity of Town funds have been spent on a solution for the problem of a few? This has been going on for years. What has been neglected due to lack of funds? Or deferred due to full agendas? Everyone should think about these questions and how they affect all Town members. Sharon Thompson,
