Two Banting students have been formally charged for their roles in triggering an approximate two hour lockdown on Feb. 4 shortly before 1 pm, after witnesses described watching one of the suspects threaten another student with a handgun, then concealed the weapon in another male's backpack.

The two male students were arrested and OPP located a pellet gun that resembled a .357 handgun.

One was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and assault, while the other is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose charge.

Both were released into their parents custody, with court appearances scheduled in March.
