OPP release names of Townline accident victims

Posted January 14, 2013

Nottawasaga OPP continue to investigate the single vehicle collision that claimed the lives of three local males Sunday on the Adjala-Tecumseth Townline sometime before 8 am.

Station 2 Beeton firefighters were first on the scene at approximately 8 am for a reported rolled-over vehicle in a ditch. OPP were dispatched as well when it was confirmed people were inside, not responding. The initial call was two people, but closer inspection confirmed a third, all males, trapped, submerged in water.

"When first responders arrived on scene, all three occupants of the vehicle were found deceased," according to this morning's update on the incident which closed the road between the 10th and 11th Line for six hours.

"Through the course of the investigation, Nottawasaga OPP determined the occupants of the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am were 18 year old Justin Keogh of Wasaga Beach, 19 year old Kevin Papps of Adjala-Tosorontio Township, and 20 year old Eric Jover of the Town of New Tecumseth."

The three friends grew up in the area, and attended Banting Memorial High School.

The OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were on scene to reconstruct the collision, but its conclusions were not included in the press release, only that it's still under investigation. It's believed however that the south bound vehicle came into contact with the bridge, which severed off a back tire, sending the vehicle into the ditch, where it came to rest on its roof.

No other details were released at this post.
