Ground, air search fails to turn up marijuana dumpers
A traffic stop in Adjala-Tosorontio yesterday afternoon turned
into a ground and air search for two suspects who fled the scene on
Conc. 7 after abandoning unspecified quantities of marijuana.
The incident started just after 2 pm Tuesday as the suspects
ran into nearby bush cover that sparked a ground search involving
Nottawasaga OPP, ERT, and K-9 unit in the area around the Adjala-New
Tecumseth Townline south of Hwy 89. The OPP helicopter was also called
in to aid the search from the air.
"The suspects left behind duffle bags containing cannabis marijuana
which Police have seized; a vehicle has also been seized from the
traffic stop as part of the investigation," according to the press
release issued this afternoon. "The suspects were not immediately
located at the time, but Nottawasaga OPP Officers are still
investigating and arrests are imminent."
