Fire service calls up 11 per cent in New Tecumseth

New Tecumseth Fire Rescue responded to 942 incidents in 2016,
up from 850 in 2015, an increase of 11 per cent.
Medical assists were the top call category at 247, followed by
151 vehicle accidents/public hazards. There were 83 fire
(structure/vehicle/brush) calls, and 136 false alarms.
The department has 124 part-time firefighters serving three
stations in Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham. For all calls, training
and other duties, they were paid a combined $996,848.62 in total points.
