Accident details still few, but officer in stable condition

Posted May 22, 2014

A member of Western Region OPP remains in a Toronto hospital following his single vehicle accident yesterday morning on Simcoe County Road 10, just south of Angus at 4th Line.

An update this morning from the OPP confirmed, "The involved driver was a veteran OPP Officer (on duty) operating an unmarked police vehicle. The Officer was extricated by Essa Fire Department and with the assistance of Simcoe County Paramedics and Ornge Air Ambulance Services, he was air lifted to a Toronto area hospital. The Officer's condition is improving and he is listed in stable condition."

OPP did not release the officer's name, why he was in the area, nor what caused him to lose control, and roll the vehicle. Cty Rd 10 between the 4th Line and Camp Hill Road was closed over six hours.

"The investigation is ongoing, further information will be released if applicable," according to the press release. "The OPP would like to thank Essa Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics, Ornge Air Ambulance Services and all of the medical staff involved in helping this Officer."
