Entire stretch of Parsons Road now part of municipal road network

Posted March 19, 2013

Shortly (once the signs go up), drivers using Parsons Road, following it east, then north through Gord Wright Field to Albert Street, will notice a few differences now that New Tecumseth has officially incorporated the roadway into the municipal road network.

First, it has been designated as a 40 km/h Community Safety Zone (fines doubled for speeding). As well, a stop sign will be affixed where it meets Albert Street East, and parking prohibitions have been lifted.

"The original purpose of the parking prohibition was administrative to provide Town Staff unencumbered access to the municipal sewage lagoon operation that was once located on Parsons Road," according to the staff report laying out the required changes. "These lagoons have been decommissioned and the purpose of the parking prohibition has become redundant."

Parsons Road is home to a couple of commerical plazas, and the main municipal water reservoir.
