County works building near Beeton fire scene this morning

Posted February 26, 2013

The investigation continues into the cause of a snow plow truck that caught fire inside the new Simcoe County roads building on the 8th Line, immediately east of Tottenham Road, this morning around 6 am.

New Tecumseth firefighters were called to the scene at about 6:08 this morning, including mutual aid from Adjala-Tosorontio. Fire was contained to one truck inside the bay area.

Simcoe County's newest works yard, located at 6609 Cty Rd 1 (8th Line) which cost about $2.4 million to build, replaced the one at Main and Patterson Street in Beeton when it opened late last year. Its opening was delayed for about a year while the County lobbied New Tecumseth unsuccessfully for relief from building a $360,000 noise barrier to buffer neighbours.

There were no injuries reported from this morning's fire, and the extent of value of damage at this post were not provided.
