Hydro issues numerous but no major damage reported overnight

Posted October 30, 2012

More than 6,500 people in New Tecumseth area were without electricity at one point last night, a situation PowerStream said was "caused by loss of supply from @HydroOne circuit" which is a main feed into town, at approximately 8 pm.

Outages were scattered and restored in Alliston including (Green Briar / Briar Hill) by 10:30 pm, in Beeton around 11:30 pm and in Tottenham at 1:40 am.

New Tecumseth Fire Rescue Chief Dan Heydon said this morning other than the power issues, "some large limbs down around the area but no reported major damage."

"Fire crews responded to a few alarm calls and did checks on the local nursing homes and seniors facilities during the power outage."

There are no weather alerts issued by Environment Canada at this post, and the Weather Network is forecasting wind speeds up to 20 km/h and close to 5 mm of rain this afternoon, and 15km/h winds overnight.
