![]() Formerly PPG Alliston, no longer part of the PPG familyPosted March 18, 2009PPG Alliston will not be impacted by PPG Industries corporate cuts because it's not owned by PPG any longer. Michael Molnar, Senior Site Manager, contacted for comment on pending job losses, said the operation in Alliston was sold in July along with PPG's Automotive Glass and Business Services to Kolberg, LLC. "Our new company name is Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW)," stated Mr. Molnar in an email. "The articles (with accounts of PPG lay offs), pertain to PPG and the restructuring of their business units. PGW Alliston is not part of the restructuring plans of PPG Industries." About 10 years ago, PPG had two operations here, but closed its main warehouse citing uncompetitive issues with cheap replacement windshields flooding the market from China. "We continue to grow our business in Alliston performing the same functions that we have been doing since we opened this operation in 1988," said Mr. Molnar. "And currently have about 75 people working at this time." |
