Nomination period for provincial election opened today

The candidate nomination period for the 41st Provincial General Election opened today and ends at 2 PM (ET) next Thursday, May 22. The election is June 12.

To date, the major parties in Simcoe-Grey have their candidates nominated. They are, incumbent, Jim Wilson, PC; Lorne Kenney, Liberal; David Matthews, NDP; and Jesseca Dudun, Green Party. But ballots will not be official until the close of nominations next week. There were four candidates on the 2011 election ballot, incliuding Green Party leader Mike Schreiner, who's running in Guelph.

Simcoe-Grey has a Preliminary Elector Count of 104,793 eligible voters, which puts the candidate's spending limit at $134,135.04.

Peter Woloszansky, is the Returning Officer for Simcoe-Grey. His office is located at 18 King Street, Angus.
