Downtown area streets under repair, expect traffic, parking issues

Posted September 13, 2012

Concord Paving got moving this morning on an estimated two week project involving the removal, replacement and compaction of asphalt within the road allowance at various areas along Victoria Street from King Street to the CP tracks and along Church Street South from Victoria Street to Beech Street.

"To minimize the disruption to the businesses in the area and reduce the traffic congestion, the repairs will be carr(ied) out between the hours of approximately 7:00 am - 9:00 am," according to the Town's notice hand delivered yesterday to the affected property owners and merchants in the downtown core area. "As some of the repair locations are within parking stalls, these areas will be blocked off in order to carry out the work. All areas will be reinstated prior to the contractor moving off site for the day and access to all businesses and residences in the area will be maintained at all times."

Paving crews started downtown this morning blocking off parking spaces on the northside of Victoria but wrapped up that portion just after 9 am before moving to a different location.

"Motorists and business patrons may experience some delays and inconveniences during this time and, in this regard, we ask for your cooperation and patience."
