14-year-old among Alliston robbery suspects arrested

Posted February 25, 2013

Nottawasaga OPP provided further details this afternoon on the three people arrested in connection with Friday night's mugging of a 23-year-old Alliston man in the area of Dufferin and Tupper St. East.

The victim told police the suspects had taken his cellphone and wallet then fled the scene. K-9 and the ERT were called to search the area, which led quickly to three arrests and the property recovered.

A 14-year-old male is charged with Disguise with Intent, Robbery with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; a 17-year-old male is charged with Robbery with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  An 18-year-old adult male is charged with Robbery with Violence and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

All three from Alliston were held over the weekend in police custody pending a bail hearing that was scheduled for today.

The names of the youth could not be released, and the police are not naming the 18-year-old "as releasing this information may lead to the identification of the young persons involved."
